Bauble Picture Ornament - CO1
Creating my handmade bauble picture ornaments begins with a sheet of 18-gauge copper. I meticulously shape each ornament using a pancake die, crafting two identical bauble shapes. One of these pieces is then modified by cutting out a 1.5-inch circle at its center, creating the perfect frame for a treasured photograph. The second piece serves as the ornament’s backing. To secure these components, I drill holes at three strategic points and join them with sterling silver rivets. This not only ensures durability but also adds a touch of elegance.
Each copper ornament is a one-of-a-kind, thanks to the unique flame painting process. Using a torch, I carefully apply heat to the metal, gradually revealing an array of colors that emerge based on how the flame interacts with the copper. This delicate dance between fire and metal ensures that no two ornaments are alike. While the shape, texture, and hook will remain consistent with what is pictured, the coloration of each ornament can vary widely, showcasing a beautiful palette of yellows, rustic tones, greens, purples, blues, and oranges. This unpredictability is the charm of handmade art—each piece tells its own story, rich with vibrant hues that cannot be replicated.
Please note that the photo of the Bauble Picture Ornaments showcases the variety of flame-painting effects possible. Be sure to review all images before placing your order. Keep in mind, the ornament you receive will be unique in color and will not look exactly like the one pictured.
